Tim Johnson, a church deacon from South Creek, Florida, has regularly kept in touch with Charlton Heston, his pen pal of two years. Unbeknownst to Johnson, Charlton Heston is a fictitious pen name of Nigerian mail frauder Mbuto Mubi. Johnson, who has sent numerous checks out to Heston, has failed to see what is really going on, despite the warning of friends.

“Charlton is great,” Johnson explained. “He loves to talk about his six kids, who all suffer from some kind of super dysentery, which requires monthly loans from people like me.” Adding, “It’s okay though, he promised to pay back the money when his forty million dollars fortune is released on his thirty-first birthday.”
