Addressing a crowd on a farm in Charleston, WV, Barack Obama attempted to clear up misconceptions about himself and his future presidency to a mostly Republican demographic of West Virginians. Obama began by assuring the people of West Virigina, that they would be ignored by his administration and that he would do everything to help the lower class workers.
Obama’s speech was quickly interrupted when a man in the relatively quiet and awestruck crowd shouted, “Hey wait, I remember where I seen you before, you’re that guy from Reading Rainbow.” Others in the crowd reaffirmed the man’s claim, nodding their head in authoritative agreement. The man then shouted, “You taught me how to read good enough to remember dem letters on that eye exam to join the army.”
