Recent Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges returns as arcade owner Kevin Flynn whose son is called to compete in the Atari Olympics against evil outdated versions of Quicken or something.

The Runaways

Well, I’m sure Haley Joel Osment really hates Daokta Fanning for growing up, not looking awkward and still having a career. There is also a lot of positive buzz from the festival circuit surrounding Kristen Stewart’s portrayal of Joan Jett. This is frankly surprising, because Kristen Stewart looks coked out every day of the week, so let’s not give her that MTV Movie Award just yet.

Legend Of The Guardians
Zach Snyder (300, Watchmen) decides to go the Robert Rodriguez route and jump into kids movies. His first decision . . .  replace Gerald Butler with a bunch of CGI owls. Can’t really argue with that. But seriously, I have no idea what is going on in this movie.

This brilliant trailer spoofs every cliche that appears in those “trying way to hard to win Oscars” films (I’m looking at you Up in the Air) that come out every award season. Love the literal take on the material. Well done.

Spaced Comparison
[Original Series]

[Terrible Remake]

And just for good measure, this week they released the footage of the unaired pilot for the American remake of the British series Spaced. For those unfamiliar with the original series, this was Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright’s (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) short lived, but amazing television show. It is one of my favorite shows ever. The American remake which was scheduled to air last year on Fox never did and now you can see why. It’s terrible. It drained all the life out of the source material and replaced it with people from MAD TV. Shame.
